The main scientific achievement of the metallurgist Sailaubai Baysanov was the study of the physico-chemical foundations of phase equilibria in complex heterogeneous metallurgical systems, which subsequently allowed them to develop innovative technologies for smelting new complex alloys.
Sailaubai Baysanov, in collaboration with scientists from the National Scientific and Technological Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as its branch, the Abishev Chemical and Metallurgical Institute, has developed highly effective compositions and methods for producing special complex alloys, manganese and chromium ferroalloys for various purposes, including deoxidation and alloying of steel.
The advantage of the created technologies is the use of substandard high-ash Karaganda and Ekibastuz coals instead of the traditionally used coke and waste from metallurgical industries. The famous Kazakhstani scientist was directly involved in the implementation of projects for the conversion of carbide (Temirtau) and phosphorus (Taraz) furnaces to ferroalloy furnaces in order to organize the production of manganese alloys.
His scientific research is highly appreciated. Sailaubai Baysanov was awarded the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of science, technology and education as a member of the author's team. He is also a laureate of the E. Buketov and U. Zholdasbekov prizes. Among the famous works of the country's leading scientist are 7 monographs, 44 USSR copyright certificates and numerous patents. He mastered his knowledge of metallurgy at the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys, and then in graduate school under the guidance of the famous academician Evney Buketov. Subsequently, this allowed Sailaubai Baysanov, as an already well-established scientist, to prepare and defend his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences.
Sailaubai Omarovich pays great attention to the education of highly qualified young personnel. 10 candidates of sciences have been trained under his leadership. He made a significant contribution to the creation of the Department of Metallurgy at Aktobe State University named after K. Zhubanov, thanks to which heavy industry engineers were trained for the first time in the west of the country. The best graduates of this department, Baysanov's students, have become leading industry specialists, and some of them have headed large enterprises.
December 2 marked the 70th anniversary of Sailaubai Baysanov, Director of the Abishev Chemical and Metallurgical Institute, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Academician of the Kazakhstan National Academy of Natural Sciences, winner of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan. We sincerely congratulate Sailaubai Omarovich on his anniversary, and wish him good health, success and new creative achievements!Abdurasul Zharmenov, General Director of the National Center for Integrated Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, twice winner of the State Prize, Honored Inventor of Kazakhstan
