A Korean corporation and a Kazakh state-owned enterprise will participate in its construction
The Minister of Economy Temir Sariev signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic, POSCO Corporation and the Republican State Enterprise National Center for Integrated Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Within the framework of the signed document, the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic is jointly implementing a project with a Korean corporation and a Kazakh state-owned enterprise using the resources of the Kyrgyz Republic, POSCO experience and RSE technologies.
This memorandum provides for the construction of a ferroalloy plant in the city of Tash-Kumyr at the first stage, with a production capacity of 7,500 tons per year, and further expansion of its production capacity to 200,000. In addition, within the framework of the signed memorandum, the creation of a magnesium plant in the Kyrgyz Republic is being considered, where POSCO Corporation will conduct research on the construction of a magnesium plant in the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as study the situation in the field of ferroalloys and non-ferrous metals in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Moreover, during the meeting with representatives of POSCO Corporation, the Korean side announced the planned educational program, in which students from the Kyrgyz Republic will study at the POSTECH-Pohang University of Science and Technology in South Korea in the field of mining and processing of mineral resources.
