Scientific developments in industrial sectors

18.04.2019

On April 18, the Media Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted a press conference dedicated to new technologies in the development of the mining, metallurgical and chemical industries of Kazakhstan.

Kanat Baitov, Acting Chairman of the Committee for Industrial Development and Industrial Safety of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, General Director of the RSE "National Center for Integrated Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan", academician, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, twice winner of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of science, told media representatives about the ongoing scientific developments in the field of mining and chemical industry and technicians Abdurasul Zharmenov and the manager of the research base of JSC "National Center for Anti-infectious Drugs" Aitugan Sabitov.

As Kanat Baitov noted, the mining and metallurgical industry makes up a significant part of the country's national economy, which is due to the availability of a raw material base. Kazakhstan's raw materials are characterized as complex, low-concentration, and difficult to enrich. In this regard, the issues of creating new technologies for mining and metallurgical enterprises are relevant.

The National Center for Integrated Processing of Mineral Raw Materials is actively involved in solving state tasks of industrial and innovative development of the country, including the preservation and expansion of sources of mineral raw materials and ensuring the complexity of its processing to obtain new products for Kazakhstani production.

According to Abdurasul Zharmenov, a third of Kazakhstan's gold is produced using the gold technologies of the National Gold Standard of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The National Center has accumulated extensive experience in extracting metals such as vanadium, titanium, niobium, antimony, rhenium, osmium-187, molybdenum, and tungsten from mineral and man-made raw materials in the form of concentrates, chemical compounds, and metals. On an industrial scale, Karatau quartzite processing technology has been introduced to produce ammonium metavanadate and osmium-187 technology, which has made Kazakhstan one of the three leading countries producing stable isotopes.

In recent years, the scientists of the National Center have been actively involved in the process of commercialization of the results of scientific and scientific-technical activities conducted under the auspices of JSC "Science Foundation".
