July 2, 2025 was marked by a worthy event for the National Center for Integrated Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan (hereinafter - NCCPS RK). On this day, the production of a silicon-carbon composite was launched. The project is unique in the use of renewable plant raw materials and the approaches of the authors to its processing.
The plant uses secondary resources – rice processing waste. The creation of the production was preceded by a long stage of scientific research. Since 2004 (it was from this period that an independent scientific direction for the disposal of rice husks was formed in the NCCMS of the Republic of Kazakhstan), more than 15 patents for inventions in the field of processing high-tonnage waste and the use of silicon-carbon products in various fields of industry and agriculture have been obtained.
The management of the NCCMS of the Republic of Kazakhstan has thoroughly familiarized itself with the work of each node of the new industrial facility. An important step has been taken – production has been launched, but no less important tasks lie ahead. Reaching the design capacity (1,500 tons of silicocarbon per year), product development, and market entry. It is well known that in modern realities it is very difficult to win a place in the sun. However, the specialists of the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan are confident that a domestic product with high potential demand will be able to compete with imported analogues.
The range of applications of the silicon-carbon composite is wide. The creators of the products rely on the production of rubber-technical products. The silica-carbon material as a filler provides an increase in the rigidity and hardness of rubbers. It is in this industry sector that scientists plan to occupy their niche.
The new Kazakh production facility is organized with the support of JSC "Science Foundation".
