Scientists of the National Center for Integrated Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NCCPS RK), consisting of Chief Scientific Secretary, Professor Svetlana Efremova, Director of the Astana branch, Professor Baymakhan Satbayev and Deputy Director of the Astana branch, PhD student of Karaganda Industrial University Nurgali Shalabayev, participated in the Summit "Sustainability through Science and Technology" SIPS2024 (Sustainable Industrial Processing Summit). Held annually since 2003, this year's event took place in Greece, in Crete. The Summit, which is unique in its organization, brings together scientists and specialists not only from different parts of the world. It is attended by both professionals, up to Nobel Prize laureates, and young figures from various fields of science and industry. However, all participants are bound by a single goal – to contribute to the sustainable development of their country and the Planet as a whole.
The main idea of the Summit is the only way to achieve sustainable development through the uniform growth of three components: environmental, social and economic. This can only be achieved through the interaction of three tandems: science and business, public administration and leadership, education and civil society.
From this point of view, the activities of the National Center for Integrated Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan fully correspond to the narrative of SIPS. Therefore, it is very natural that in different years four employees of the NCPCMS of the Republic of Kazakhstan, headed by the Director General, academician Abdurasul Zharmenov, who is a member of the four–member steering committee of the Summit, were appointed to the organizational committees of the Summit at different levels.
Kazakh scientists talked about the production of refractories. The developed technology for producing high-temperature materials based on organo-mineral secondary raw materials contributes to: environmental protection through the disposal of waste from metallurgy and the agro-industrial complex, economic growth through the production of highly demanded materials and the social development of the country through tax contributions to the budget. Over a ten-year period of activity, during the commercialization of scientific developments of the Astana branch of the RSE "NCKPMS RK", more than 15 thousand tons of refractories worth more than 7 billion tenge were produced and supplied to metallurgical enterprises in Kazakhstan. At the same time, the budget received about 1 billion tenge in taxes. Without a doubt, Kazakhstani refractories are a significant contribution to the process of ensuring sustainable development.Source: gov.kz/memleket/entities/mps
