On September 26, 2013, the International Conference "Mining and Metallurgical Complex on the threshold of the Third Industrial Revolution" was held in Almaty (Intercontinental Almaty), dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the RSE "National Center for Integrated Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan" (hereinafter - the Conference).
The National Center for Integrated Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan is a leading scientific and production enterprise in the market of scientific and technical services in the mining and metallurgical complex, which includes the Kazkern Institute of Geology and Economics of Mineral Raw Materials, the D.A. Kunaev Institute of Mining, the Chemical and Metallurgical Institute. named after J. Abisheva, Eastern Scientific Research Mining and Metallurgical Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals "Vniitsvetmet", State Scientific and Production Association of Industrial Ecology "Kazmehanobr", Metallurgy Center, Astana branch; the Institute of Kazchermermavtomatika JSC is in trust management. Currently, the center's staff consists of more than 1,300 people, of whom 62 are doctors of sciences, 95 are candidates of sciences, 43 are academicians and corresponding members, 52 employees are laureates of State and nominal awards. As a single powerful structure, the National Center provides a systematic solution to problems in the field of geological exploration, extraction and processing of mineral and man-made raw materials in order to modernize existing and create new enterprises.The Conference was held in the format of a panel discussion at the plenary and breakout sessions of reports on the following areas:
- Achievements and technologies in geology and mining.
- Modern approaches to the enrichment of poor, off-balance sheet raw materials. Environmental aspects of environmental management.
- New technologies of metallurgical processing of mineral and man-made raw materials.
The Conference was attended by delegates from government agencies (Ministry of Labor of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Akimat of Alamata), institutes and development banks (JSC KIRI, JSC Science Foundation, EDB), diplomatic missions and executive authorities of friendly republics (Poland, Russia, Kyrgyzstan), representatives of the scientific community (KazNAEN, NIA RK, AMR RK, MAI, Nazarbayev University JSC, Institute of Metallurgy Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, KazNU named after al-Farabi, KazNTU named after K.I. Satpayev, KarSU named after E.A. Buketova, etc.), major foreign and domestic partner companies of the Center (ThyssenKrupp Metallurgie GmbH, ICMD Holding AG, SMS Siemag, Germany; FERROALLOY CJSC, West Ural Machine-Building Concern Group of Enterprises, Gefest Group of Companies, Russia; Kazzink LLP, Kazakhmys Corporation LLP", ENRC, ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC, Kazakhstan, etc.).
Following the discussion of topical issues in the field of development of mineral resources and mining and metallurgical complexes, the Conference participants noted:
- The significant potential of Russian science in creating innovative developments and modernizing production, including in the field of innovative technology transfer.
- The need to expand and strengthen ties between domestic and foreign scientific organizations and industrial enterprises in the development and commercialization of innovative technologies.
- The importance of assistance from authorized government agencies in the implementation of progressive forms of cooperation between scientific organizations and industrial enterprises to ensure the industrial and innovative development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
A significant result of the Conference was the signing of a cooperation agreement between the RSE "NC KPMS RK" and the Karaganda Complex Alloys Plant in the construction of a complex alloys plant in Karaganda.
The conference was held at a high scientific level. We have received positive feedback from the organizing committee.
