On December 14 of this year, a meeting was held between the Chairman of the Committee for Industrial Development of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan (hereinafter referred to as the Committee) Marat Karimzhanovich Karabaev with the management of the RSE "National Center for Integrated Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan" (hereinafter – the Center) and the directors of the Center's branches. The main topic for discussion was the issue of the activities and development plans of the RSE "NC KPMS RK" in modern realities.
The Head of the Committee was presented with a presentation film about the Center, reflecting the structure, staff, main goals, tasks, possible solutions, as well as the main achievements of recent years.
The branch directors highlighted the work of their institutes in more detail and presented promising projects for the industry.
Director of the D.A. Kunaev Institute of Mining N.S. Buktukov noted the unique works that are ready for extensive pilot testing and commercialization in the field of mining engineering.
S.O.Baysanov, Director of the branch of the KHMI named after Zh.Abishev, focused on two main problems of the industry, which the institute is successfully working to solve. These are the processing of Lisak ores and the development of the manganese industry. The Institute has established the production of refined ferroalloys with a capacity of 30-40 tons/month through JSC "Science Foundation". The launch is scheduled for December 24, 2020.
The main advantage of Kazmekhanobr, said director S.T. Shalgymbayev, is the presence of an operating pilot factory: "If there were three of them during the Soviet Union, only one has been preserved and operates in the post-Soviet space. It has recently been upgraded and retrofitted with modern equipment, unfortunately, not completely, but nevertheless, testing at the factory is in demand among manufacturing enterprises."
Director of the Astana branch B.N. Satbaev reported on the production of new types of refractories using the developed technology, which are successfully tested and used at enterprises in Kazakhstan and Russia, proving their competitiveness with foreign counterparts.
The director of the branch of the Center of Metallurgy, E.B. Beisembayev, focused on the prospects for the development of two established sites for the production of special coke and refractories, the necessary retrofitting of which, thanks to the support of JSC Science Foundation, will allow them to be put into operation.
Among the main research areas of the Department of Scientific Research of the RSE "NC KPMS RK", according to Director D.K. Aitkulov:
- processing of Karatau quartzites to produce vanadium-containing ferrophosphorus for the purpose of further production of ferrovanadium and refined ferrophosphorus;
- processing of rice husks to produce silicocarbon for the production of ferrosilicon;
- processing of chrysotile asbestos waste from Kostanay Minerals JSC to produce carnallite and bischofite. The work is funded by JSC "Science Foundation".
General Director of the RSE NC KPMS RK, Academician A.A. Zharmenov summarized the results of the organization's activities, emphasizing that real serious work is being carried out at the National Center. "We are launching factories in different countries.
