As part of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Kazakhstan National Academy of Natural Sciences (KazNAEN) and the 25th anniversary of the National Center for Integrated Processing of Mineral Raw Materials (NCCPS), an international scientific and practical conference "Innovations in the field of natural sciences as the basis for export-oriented industrialization of Kazakhstan" was held in Almaty.
The event was attended by about 200 people from Kazakhstan, Russia, China, Iran, Switzerland, Germany, and the United Arab Emirates.
– Today we celebrate a double anniversary: The 10th and 25th anniversaries of the founding of the Kazakhstan Academy of Natural Sciences and the National Center for Integrated Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan, respectively.
The conference can be considered a reporting one, since it is devoted to discussing the achievements of modern research in the field of natural sciences, integrated processing of mineral raw materials, innovative developments in the manufacturing sector, including the results of the activities of KazNAEN and RSE NCCMS RK, aimed at implementing the Message of Elbasy "Increasing the well-being of Kazakhstanis: increasing incomes and quality of life" and the execution of the instructions of the President of the country Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, – Academician Abdurasul Zharmenov, Co-chairman of the Organizing Committee, Director General of the National Center for Integrated Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan, said at the opening of the conference.
There are many successes in the piggy bank of each of the anniversaries, which deserve the attention and respect of the scientific community and industry.
Thus, the Academy held the global conference "Energy and Environmental Initiatives of Kazakhstan" within the framework of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development, known as RIO+20, where it presented the initiatives of the First President of Kazakhstan: the Global Energy and Environmental Strategy, the Green Bridge Partnership Program and the country's plans for the transition to a green economy. As a result of many years of work, the goals and objectives of the Global Energy and Environmental Strategy were adopted by the international community in the RIO+20 outcome document. The ideas of the strategy were most fully embodied in the UN initiative "Sustainable Energy for All". Based on the ideas of the strategy, with the participation of KazNAEN, the "National Strategy for Sustainable Energy of the Future of Kazakhstan until 2050" was developed.
In the treasury of KazNAEN employees' work is the justification for the construction of the Eurasia canal connecting the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea, with a projected cargo flow during the implementation of the Silk Road project through the Eurasia Canal by 2050 120 million tons per year; the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Commercialization of the results of scientific and (or) scientifictechnical activities" and recommendations on scientific support for the Development Strategy of Kazakhstan until 2050.
NCKPMS is the largest scientific and production enterprise in Kazakhstan and Central Asia in the field of mining, processing and processing of mineral raw materials. Based on the center's developments, dozens of industrial facilities have been launched on different continents, including those producing a tenth of the world's primary lead and every third ton of Kazakhstani gold.
The synergy of both organizations is a good example of a scientific tandem working to develop integration processes between science and business with an increase in the effectiveness of the introduction of innovative technologies, both domestically and internationally. This is confirmed by the joint work on the involvement of low-quality limestone ores from the Lisakovsky deposit in the production. Our scientists were the first in the world to obtain a conditioned concentrate from low-quality brown iron ore with a 65% iron content and no more than 0.25% phosphorus and developed a technology for smelting high-alloy steel of the X80 strength category. In 2017, the joint "Development of world–class technologies for the involvement in the processing of low-quality (high-phosphorous limestone) and man-made raw materials that increase the competitiveness of steel production and their commercialization" was awarded the highest scientific award - the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of science and technology.– Further plans are no less ambitious, and we are confident of their successful implementation! – Abdurasul Zharmenov stated in his speech.
The head of the NCPMS warmly thanked the partners and colleagues who had provided support throughout the organization's activities, helping to test the developments being created on an industrial scale, since without this it would have been impossible to introduce the technologies into production.
Kanat Baitov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Industrial Development and Industrial Safety of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, delivered a welcoming address on behalf of Roman Sklyar, Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development. It was noted that the technologies created by the scientists of the RSE "NCCMS RK" contribute to the promotion of Kazakhstan's image on the world stage. This is also the technology of processing osmium concentrate to produce the purest isotope osmium-187, thanks to which our country has become one of the three leaders in the production of stable isotopes. And this is a high-quality technology for processing low-quality lead-containing raw materials, which together produces a tenth of the world's primary lead on different continents. There is a well-known technology for the production of Kazakhstansky alloy for deoxidation and modification of steel, patented in many countries of the world, which is implemented in cooperation with the giants of global metallurgy Thyssen Krupp AG and POSCO. Unique technologies for processing gold-bearing raw materials ensure the production of every third ton of this precious metal in the republic. The results obtained, of course, contribute to the growth of the welfare of Kazakhstanis and the strengthening of the state.
In his welcoming speech to the guests and participants of the conference, Co-chairman of the organizing Committee, President of the Kazakhstan National Academy of Natural Sciences, Doctor of Economics, Academician Nurtai Abykayev stressed that over the past years, the Kazakhstan National Academy of Natural Sciences has earned a reputation as an authoritative scientific center in the country, coordinating scientific activities to solve problems, the tasks set by the Head of State on the implementation of state programs for scientific support of basic sectors of the economy with practical results of natural sciences and their adaptation to market requirements.Anatoly Spitsyn, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, congratulated the anniversaries. He noted their invaluable contribution to strengthening cooperation with Russian science in the priority areas of scientific, technological and economic development of the countries.
Representatives of the leading domestic enterprises of the mining and metallurgical industry (JSC "AK Altynalmas", JSC "TNK Kazchrome"), as well as mining and metallurgical enterprises of China and Turkey addressed their congratulations to the research teams. Colleagues from al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the International Kazakh-Turkish University wished to develop integration processes between the scientific community and the industrial sector of the country, to form new mechanisms for cooperation between science and business. Hoxha Ahmet Yassawi.
The solemn meeting ended with the awarding ceremony of outstanding scientists and specialists of KazNAEN and NCPMS of the Republic of Kazakhstan with awards from the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Kazakhstan National Academy of Natural Sciences.
