Sailaubai Baysanov, a native of the 7th Aul Council of Chelkar district of Aktobe region, is one of the brightest personalities of the domestic metallurgical science. His professional path, inextricably linked with the Chemical and Metallurgical Institute named after J. Abishev, a branch of the RSE NC KPMS RK, became an example of scientific dedication, high professionalism and consistent service to the development of the industry. After graduating from the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys in 1974, he began working at the Abishev Chemical Engineering Institute, proving himself to be a researcher capable of solving complex scientific problems. His postgraduate studies with Academician E.A. Buketov determined his scientific interests in the field of physico-chemistry of phase equilibria and laid the foundation for subsequent achievements. For more than 25 years, S. Baysanov has been in charge of the Metallurgical Melts Laboratory, developing new scientific directions and strengthening the institute's fundamental research. In 2001, he was awarded the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the creation of technologies for processing man-made raw materials and producing ferrosilicon aluminum. The alloys and methods of their production developed by him have been implemented at enterprises in Kazakhstan and have received recognition abroad. The scientist's contribution to the development of the domestic manganese industry and the modernization of production facilities in Ekibastuz, Temirtau and Taraz is significant. He has been training personnel for the industry for more than 50 years. Dozens of dissertations have been defended under his leadership, and many students have become leading specialists and heads of scientific and industrial areas. In 1997, on his initiative, the Department of Metallurgy was opened at K. Zhubanov Aktobe University, which became an important educational center in the region and made a significant contribution to the training of engineering personnel. Since 2017, Sailaubai Baysanov has been the head of the Abishev KHMI, ensuring the sustainable development of the institute, strengthening international cooperation, introducing scientific developments and participating in the implementation of major scientific and technical programs. He has published over 428 scientific papers, with a Hirsch index of 7. In 2025, he was awarded the Kurmet Order for his contribution to the development of metallurgical science. His work is a significant part of the scientific history of Kazakhstan and a vivid example of a scientist's responsibility to the country, the industry and the professional community.
