Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on Problems of Mineral Enrichment, Institute of Problems of Integrated Development of the Russian Academy of Sciences, National Scientific and Technological Holding Parasat, JSC Center for Earth Sciences, Metallurgy and Enrichment (Republic of Kazakhstan) under the auspices of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan National Academy of Natural Sciences Sciences on September 16-19, 2014 in Almaty (Republic of Kazakhstan) held an international meeting dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the Kazakhstan National Academy of Natural Sciences "Progressive methods of enrichment and complex processing of natural and man–made mineral raw materials" (Plaksin Readings - 2014).
The international meeting "Plaksin Readings" has been held every autumn since 1977 in memory of Academician Igor Nikolaevich Plaksin (1900-1967), the founder of the Soviet scientific school in the field of mineral processing and hydrometallurgy of rare, non-ferrous and precious metals.
The meeting was attended by over 200 scientists from Russia and Kazakhstan. Canada, Ukraine, Belarus, Mongolia. All reports were divided into 5 sections:
- Technological mineralogy. Disintegration and ore preparation.
- Flotation, gravity, magnetic and electromagnetic separation.
- Complex processing of mineral raw materials.
- Processing of man-made raw materials. Economic aspects.
- Poster presentations.
The Trud Machine-building plant was represented by A.M. Nikonov, the main concentrator, and A.V. Kozhevnikov, a research engineer from TIGOM CJSC.
As part of the conference, the participants were able to visit The National Center for Integrated Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan, where a semi-industrial laboratory facility was presented. The laboratory consists of several departments: the grinding department, the flotation department, the sorption and leaching department, and the gravity department.
A collection of reports was released following the meeting.
