Kazmehanobr State Scientific and Production Association of Industrial Ecology

About the Institute

The State Scientific and Production Association of Industrial Ecology "Kazmekhanobr" was founded in 1958.

It is a branch of the National Center for Integrated Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the Committee of Industry of the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan – the State Scientific and Production Association of Industrial Ecology "Kazmekhanobr" (Kazmekhanobr).

History of Establishment

  • 1958 – Branch of the All-Union Scientific Research and Design Institute of Mechanical Processing of Minerals "Mekhanobr".
  • 1966 – Kazmekhanobr State Scientific Research and Design Institute for the Enrichment of Non-Ferrous Metal Ores.
  • 1992 – Transferred to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan as the main organization for ecology.
  • 1998 – Transferred to the Ministry of Science – Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
  • 1999 – Became part of the RSE "NC KPMS RK" of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
  • 2000 – Became a subsidiary state enterprise of RSE "NC KPMS RK".
  • 2012 – Branch of RSE "NC KPMS RK" GNPOPE "Kazmekhanobr".

The origins of the association date back to October 30, 1958, when by Order No. 585 of the State Planning Committee of the Council of Ministers of the USSR, Kazmekhanobr was established in Alma-Ata as a branch of the All-Union Scientific Research and Design Institute of Mechanical Processing of Minerals "Mekhanobr".

Due to the development of the mining and metallurgical industry in the Kazakh SSR and the need for extensive research, design, and development work in ore processing of ferrous, non-ferrous, and rare metals, on September 16, 1966, by Order No. 565 of the Ministry of Non-Ferrous Metallurgy of the USSR, the Kazakh branch of the Mekhanobr Institute was reorganized into the Kazmekhanobr State Scientific Research and Design Institute for the Enrichment of Non-Ferrous Metal Ores.

Today, Kazmekhanobr is a large scientific and production association, including research and design divisions, an experimental plant equipped with modern equipment, and highly qualified personnel.
